More than 1,000 children were welcomed to sports venues across Edinburgh to participate in this year's BAA Edinburgh Youth Games, making it the biggest in the event's seven year history.
Twenty two sports were on offer to Edinburgh's young people, including hockey, gymnastics, tennis and golf, with additional opportunities to sample other activities, including Capoeira dancing, climbing and dance workshops.
The emphasis of the Youth Games is on participation and enjoyment as much as competition, said Edinburgh Leisure spokesman Michael Pinkerton: "Once again we've been able to give young people who don't normally get the opportunity to compete the chance to experience the buzz of being part of a large sporting event."
