Essence has introduced a nasal diffuser product to the spa, hospitality and healthcare markets designed to enhance wellbeing in a variety of settings.

The company has developed a discreet silicone nasal ring that is infused with essential oils and then sits snugly around the septum.

The translucent rings are available in a variety of scents – such as grapefruit, lavender, peppermint and orange – as well as bespoke essential oil blends designed to address specific wellbeing needs such as lack of energy, stress and nausea.

Alternatively, consumers can purchase plain rings and soak them in their own choice of essential oils.

“Essence Rings can be used just about everywhere: spas, hotels, hospitals, airplanes, yoga studios and even football fields,” says Michael DeLeeuw, co-owner and creator of Essence.

Essence is partnered with 175 spas which incorporate the rings throughout the customer journey, including during treatments (for both therapists and spa clients), in relaxation spaces and experience rooms.

Essence rings are also being sold in spa retail areas for consumers to incorporate aromatherapy into their everyday lives.

DeLeeuw explained to Spa Business that the inspiration for the rings stemmed from a business trip where he had to endure an unpleasant mixture of smells aboard a long flight in 2017.

He continued: “Essence rings afford an easy experiential upgrade by promoting relaxation and stress reduction wherever you are.

“Lavender Essence rings, in particular, are being used as an upgraded turn-down service in hotels to help promote a restful night’s sleep. The rings can also help travellers to alleviate the symptoms of motion sickness.”

He revealed that the rings became popular in the healthcare sector thanks to the pandemic and the influx of regulations about wearing face masks.

“Essence rings provide a personalised mask experience with a variety of scents, plus, they also offer an excellent option for patient care. For example, they’re now being used in oncology departments to help ease some of the effects of chemotherapy.”

The product can be reused after being washed with mild soap and left to dry. Following this, the rings can be re-soaked with a few drops of essential oil to prepare for the next use.

Essence
St George Utah 84790 United States
Essence was started in 2018 after founders Michael and Tami Deleeuw returned from several unpleasant smelling airplane rides. They knew there had to be a way to have aromatherapy on the go, and after a lot of R&D, they found a material that would absorb essential oils and release the scent over time, and the Essence ring was born.
