How to maximise your spa’s potential with a halotherapy room

Optimising how you use your spa space is the best way to maximise revenue. But, how can you transform an underutilised space into a money maker that delivers the benefits your guests are seeking?

In recent months, demand for converting nail salon areas into salt rooms has grown exponentially as staffing issues for spas and salons and declines in demand for spa nail services have hindered business.

By converting an underutilised area into a salt room, the space starts a promising new chapter and expands therapy options on offer for spa guests.

A halogenerator is the main piece of equipment needed to create the new experience room and additional finishing touches include covering the walls and floors in Himalayan salt and/or adding elegant salt loungers.

With low start-up costs and initial investment, the potential returns of this addition to your facility are promising. Plus, the cost of maintenance and labour is minimal as no special licensing or certification is necessary.

A salt room can be designed to either accommodate one person at a time or as a group treatment area. With a communal halotherapy room, you can offer treatment to several clients at once and generate even more revenue.

The average salt therapy treatment lasts for 45 minutes, and the charge averages between US$30-45 per (€31-46, £27-40) person. Having boomed in popularity thanks to the pandemic, halotherapy can benefit those with respiratory, rheumatology and skin conditions. Investors are sure to see the number of treatments booked grow each day.

The interest in salt therapy and its health benefits is growing rapidly, making it one of the most promising additions to any spa, wellness centre or fitness centre.
