Rates at Lanserhof Sylt will start from €7,120 (US$8,233, £6,044) per person for a seven-night Lanserhof Cure Classic / Ingenhoven Architects
The new health resort will combine modern cutting-edge medicine with state-of-the-art equipment and alternative naturopathy
– Dr Jan Stritzke
Medical spa brand Lanserhof will open its first coastal resort on the island of Sylt in northern Germany, in Spring 2022.

A €120m (US$138.7m, £101.9m) project over five years in the making, Lanserhof Sylt will offer the brand’s signature approach, which combines cutting-edge diagnostics with natural healing methods.

Sylt, referred to as the ‘Hamptons of Germany’, is known for its healing climate and restorative sea air, claimed to provide relief for allergy and respiratory disease sufferers.

In keeping with this, programming will focus on cardiological rehabilitation for acute or chronic diseases, treatment for respiratory and skin diseases and offer the brand’s signature LANS Med Concept.

The Sylt programme will be overseen by medical director and cardiologist Dr Jan Stritzke, a specialist in cardiological rehabilitation for acute and chronic illnesses.

Under the medical management of Stritzke, the range of services available at Lanserhof Sylt will include medical consultations and individual therapies.

Commenting on the upcoming opening, Stritzke said: “Surrounded by the unique and ever-present nature of Sylt, the new health resort awaits guests in a place where modern, flowing and natural architecture radiates tranquillity and at the same time combines modern cutting-edge medicine with the help of state-of-the-art equipment and alternative naturopathy.

“For this new Lanserhof experience, we've built a great team of physicians, therapists, sports and nutrition scientists and beauticians. I can’t wait to introduce it to our guests.”

Lanserhof Sylt's facilities and design
Housing 55 rooms and suites beneath Europe’s largest thatched roof, the resort will have a combined guest area of over 20,000sq m.

The treatment area will stretch across 5,000sq m, including a spacious spa area featuring saunas, steam baths, relaxation area and indoor and outdoor pool with a sun terrace hidden in the dunes.

In addition to the main building, the resort will feature two interconnected saltwater indoor and outdoor pools complete with counter-current system and a five-story freestanding spiral staircase centrepiece.

A continuous glass facade will give the impression that the thatched roof floats above, giving the property a weightless character that blends seamlessly into the rolling dunes and landscape beyond.

The guest rooms will range upwards in size from 39sq m double rooms and feature a private balcony cut into the building’s thatched roof. These balconies will create an abundance of light within the room while providing a tranquil spot for guests to enjoy the healing sea air and panoramic views of the sea and sand dunes.

Selected rooms will feature beds with FreshBed technology to ensure the perfect night’s sleep, in addition to a human-centric lighting concept to keep guests in harmony with their natural biorhythm.

Designed by architect Christoph Ingenhoven, Lanserhof Sylt has been constructed using entirely sustainable, non-emitting materials.

The design finds inspiration from the surrounding area and climate, as well as in the construction of Frisian houses, which typically feature low storeys, glass, wood and thatch.

Natural, curved shapes mirror the island’s sand dunes, while a pared-back aesthetic featuring wood, earthen tones and organic materials allows the magnificent setting to take centre-stage.

The German Island of Sylt is located Northwest of the mainland and is reachable by air via Düsseldorf year-round. With just 15,000 inhabitants, Sylt offers 40km of fine sandy beach and three shifting sand dunes, the only ones left in all of Germany.

Set on UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Wadden Sea, Sylt is home to some of the continent’s most impressive wildlife and flora and fauna.

Rates at Lanserhof Sylt will start from €7,120 (US$8,233, £6,044) per person for a seven-night Lanserhof Cure Classic.
