County Donegal-based Finn Harps FC, which plays in the first division of Football Association Ireland’s (FAI) Eircom League, is in the process of finding a developer for its new 6,700-seat stadium.
Since advertising for potential developers in the Irish Independent as well as local press, the club has received interest from at least 15 companies from Dublin, Belfast and Derry with at least one from England.
Patsy Lafferty, Finn Harps’ ground development officer, said: “We are now waiting on the formal proposals which are to be submitted next month. After that, we hope to be in a position to enter into more detailed discussions with the developers who submit the most advantageous proposals.”
The new stadium plans on the club’s agenda since early 2005, with the intention of moving from its current home in Finn Park, Ballybofey, to a site in nearby Stranorlar. Details: www.finnharps.com
