Plinth 2000 creates bespoke spa couch letting guests gaze down onto gently diffused lights
06 Dec 2012 . BY Kate Corney
 /
British manufacturer Plinth 2000 has developed a bespoke spa couch enabling clients to lie face down and gaze at flower-filled water bowls illuminated by gently diffused light.

The couch incorporates a waterproof LED accent lighting unit on the base frame and the guest looks through the breathing aperture. It has been supplied into Imagine Spas across the UK.

Imagine Spa requested the waterproof LED accent lighting modification for the Plinth 2000 PR03 couch, which Plinth sourced and integrated the light into the design.

The 125mm diameter recessed uplighter incorporates around thirty light emitting diodes behind a toughened glass diffuser and marine-grade stainless steel front plate, producing a uniform, soft light with no glare. Sealed in a die-cast aluminium housing, it features electrical shock safeguards and ingress protection for client safety.

The couches for Imagine Spas were upholstered in white leather-grain vinyl, which is durable, flame retardant, anti-microbial and fully washable.

The PRO3 next generation couch is specifically designed for spas, health clubs and beauty salons, with extra thick comfort padding for longer treatment sessions, electric or hydraulic height adjustment to facilitate optimum client access, and flexible backrest and footrest positioning by means of hydro-pneumatic gas cylinders.

It is designed and built to medical standards to provide a strong, stable and shake-free platform for a wide range of therapeutic treatments, from leg waxing and facials, through aromatherapy massage and body treatments, to deep tissue massage and heavy manipulation. The 28 inch-wide working platform is designed to give client comfort and there is a standard breathing hole and removable plug, for when treatment is applied face down.

UK brand Imagine Spa operates upwards of twenty spas across the country and a number of hotel-based facilities, including Hilton, Marriott and Radisson Edwardian. Plinnth has supplied more than sixty of its purpose-designed PRO3 three-section models to Imagine Spa.

Imagine Spa’s Dave Courteen said: “In the spa business, a little innovation like this helps differentiate our brand from the competition.”

Plinth 2000 offers a complete made-to-measure service, customising most elements like backrest length, upholstery colours and padding contours, to suit particular applications and market requirements.
