The Retinol-Like Bi-Serum represents a scientific breakthrough in the retinol approach: visible effectiveness on wrinkles, skin texture, and pores, with remarkable tolerance
– Magali Blum, head of formulation, Yon-Ka Paris

Yon-Ka Paris has created a retinol-inspired formula and ritual to target wrinkles and improve texture – but without the discomfort, redness and irritation that users with sensitive skin can experience.

The brand’s new Retinol-Like Bi-Serum includes the brand’s latest innovation, the ReNew Technology. This complex comprises two complementary retinol-like actives. One is derived from biotechnology, a biomimetic microalgae, and the other is a plant extract from the mastic tree.

The brand says it has chosen the biomimetic microalgae because of its ability to reactivate the skin’s natural regeneration mechanisms. The mastic tree extract is described as an ‘active fraction’, which stimulates the skin’s natural retinoid pathway to allow for cellular renewal.

The formula is said to work on both the dermis (smoothing wrinkles and supporting skin quality), and the epidermis (refining skin texture and creating an even complexion).

The texture of the serum is lightweight and absorbs quickly during treatments.

The phyto-aromatherapy brand has developed the scent for the product for a sensorial experience with pink pepper essential oil, which also offers antioxidant properties. Gardenia extract also offers a delicate underlying fragrance.

The signature ritual for the product involves shaking the serum to activate the formula before dispensing six to eight drops in the palm of the hand. Users are encouraged to inhale the aromatic notes to awaken the senses and then apply to the face and neck using gentle pressing motions.

The serum is designed to be used daily in the morning and/ or in the evening, on clean skin. It can be used by itself or under a complementary cream.

Magali Blum, head of formulation, Yon-Ka Paris, said: “The Retinol-Like Bi-Serum represents a scientific breakthrough in the retinol approach: visible effectiveness on wrinkles, skin texture, and pores, with remarkable tolerance.

“This serum represents a treatment that embodies the Yon-Ka Paris vision: combining performance, sensoriality and respect for skin balance,” added Blum.

100 per cent of a group of 24 women aged 46 to 70 and of all skin types found their skin felt instantly hydrated, non-greasy and comfortable after application, according to the brand’s dermatological tests. The product is available in two sizes. The 30ml unit costs US$178 (€164, £141) and the 4ml unit costs US$40 (€37, £32).
