Gesellschaft von Architekten (Graft) have revealed their final designs for Apassionata – a horse theme and adventure park being built in Munich, Germany.
The competition-winning proposal will see a 12 acre hub for leisure and entertainment developed in Munich, incorporating adventure, nature and architecture, with 12 themed pavilions anchored by a central structure known as the show palace.
The pavilions – which are all made primarily of wood – will include an array of activities, including a 360º cinema, horse museum, foal station and petting zoo. The pavilions have been designed as temporary installations, suitable for a long duration as well as de- and re construction.
Apassionata's show palace has been designed to connect with the environment of the park using the natural landscape. Following the theme of horses, which play a strong part in the design, the fluid form of the structure pays homage to a running horse, creating a dynamic shape designed to ‘complement nature’. Within the building, there is space for 1,700 visitors to watch Apassionata’s signature ‘Golden Trail’ horse show on a 40m (131ft) stage, using a wide layout to keep everyone close to the action.
Founded in 2002, the Apassionata brand is already well established in Europe. The touring horse show is seen by around 500,000 spectators annually, with the spectacle combining various horse breeds and riding styles with musical compositions and live performances of musicians and dancers.
Work on the Munich development is expected to take 12 months to complete, with the site ready for Q3 of 2016.
