The 20,000sq ft (1,858sq m) Ame Spa & Wellness Collective has opened its doors at Turnberry Isle Miami, setting a new standard in immersive spa and wellness destinations.
The opening of Ame follows a US$2.5m (€2.3m, £1.99m) expansion in Turnberry’s spa facility and a complete redesign of the spa’s offerings.
Curated by world-class practitioners, Ame is at the vanguard of both Eastern and Western modalities, offering integrated strategies to manage stress, encourage strength and flexibility, lose weight, cultivate equanimity, look and feel younger, and create new patterns that last a lifetime.
Central to the spa’s philosophy is a highly-personalised approach for each guest to optimise their health and wellbeing.
A team of best-in-class experts oversee programming and lead on-property retreats; at the forefront are board-certified functional and integrative clinicians from Rezilir HealthTM including Dr. Craig Tanio, Dr. Susan Pilossoph, Dr. Yoav Suprun, Dr. David Wexler, Susan Luck RN, and April Hanemann, RN, all of whom will create custom, sustainable health plans for clients in order to improve wellbeing, cognitive performance and executive function; balance hormones; and manage weight loss and stress. Dr. Karen Koffler will join the team in May 2017.
There will also be weekend-long retreats throughout the year with master yoga teacher Nikki Costello and plant-based chef and entrepreneur Matthew Kenney, along with other influential wellness figures.
The newly renovated, three-floor luxury spa features 22 treatment rooms, a yoga studio, spinning room, private pilates room, and a weight training and cardio studio.
Treatment rooms feature premier equipment from Gharieni, which incorporates colour and sound therapies to encourage relaxation. There is also a cryotherapy facility, an Ayurvedic treatment area for dosha-balancing, and signature wellness circuit that combines aqua therapy, heat, and a Himalayan seat salt room.
The spa menu offers everything from traditional spa services to culturally authentic experiences and unconventional health and beauty treatments. Overall, there are more than 70 treatments designed to address both aesthetic and functional concerns.
Unconventional treatments include Japanese Iyashi Dome by Gharieni which features a domed table and infrared light to stimulate the metabolism, detox, aid weight loss and enhance performance; Gharieni’s Alisselle Amethyst Himalayan Massage, which uses a heated quartz-salt mix that creates ionised air and helps to boost the immune system, reduce stress and detox the lungs; Spa Wave, which uses an acoustic stimulation massage table to promote deep relaxation and improve sleep; and Tibetan Singing Bowls by Eastern Vibration - these bowls are placed on and around the body to balance energy and promote total relaxation.
In addition, guests can choose from more than 96 classes each week including yoga, spinning, pilates and HIIT.

The spa also features museum-quality art installations by Robert Rauschenberg, Ugo Rondinone, and Claus Oldenburg.
