Life Time embraces new Apple Fitness+
POSTED 26 Dec 2020 . BY Tom Walker

Life Time says it’s the first US health & fitness club company to embrace Apple Fitness+ and
include it as part of its membership offer.

Apple launched its long-awaited on-demand fitness platform earlier this month, utilising its ecosystem of hardware and software to offer consumers a personalised exercise experience. The new service will deliver studio-style workouts to iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV products, while incorporating workout metrics from Apple Watch.

Life Time said Apple Fitness+ will complement its existing digital training and fitness programmes and content.

The two companies already have ties, as Life Time began to integrate Apple technologies into its fitness experience in 2017 when, in the US, Apple GymKit-enabled cardio equipment was offered first at Life Time, providing Apple Watch connectivity between the device and cardio machine.

"We are rapidly expanding the way the world connects to Life Time through technology – with the same high-quality experiences our brand has been recognized for delivering at our athletic resorts for nearly 30 years," said Life Time founder, chair and CEO Bahram Akradi.

"Apple Fitness+ brings additional best-in-class content and variety to the ever-growing digital and omnichannel wellness programs, services and content we provide our members."

Members across Life Time's 150 US clubs will be able to sign up to the service by the end of the year.

At launch, Apple Fitness+ will include more than 200 workouts across 10 popular workout types – from HIIT, strength, yoga and dance to core, cycling and treadmill. There are also "Mindful Cooldown" sessions, led by a team of specialist trainers.

“We’re excited for Apple Fitness+ to bring together the metrics from Apple Watch, great music, and a diverse and inspiring trainer team in a uniquely simple, easy-to-access way across Apple devices,” said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of Fitness Technologies.
