£6m overhaul for historic Abu Dhabi resort
POSTED 30 Apr 2012 . BY Pete Hayman
Ain Al Fayadha, one of the longest-operating resorts in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is to reopen its doors next month following a £6m (US$9.8m, EUR7.4m) refurbishment programme.

The 36sq km (13.9sq mile) property is owned by Al Qudra Holding and managed by One To One Hotels. It will relaunch as One To One Resort-Ain Al Fayadha in two phases.

More than 50 one- and two-bedroom villas and a signature contemporary restaurant set on a boating lake will be the first facilities to be unveiled in the first stage of the reopening.

The 26-bedroom, boutique hotel, three swimming pools and a spa will form part of the next phase in late June, although further spa details have yet to be announced.

A salon; sports facilities; two more restaurants; and a fitness centre will also be added to the resort, along with a traditional 1,000-seat Arabic tent for socialising, eating and relaxing.

One To One Resort-Ain Al Fayadha hotel manager Philippe Harb said: "We want to rekindle that nostalgia and create a new, modern experience, while maintaining the qualities that made the property so special in the first place.

"We have set ambitious targets in the pursuit of breathing life back into this historic property, and are confident of launching a hotel that seamlessly blends a deep-rooted heritage with a contemporary twist."

Meanwhile, a study is being undertaken in order to turn the current duck pond into a fish reserve for guests to catch their dinner. An organic farm is also planned.
