Akaryn Hotel Group announces upcoming urban sanctuary and spa in Chiang Mai

Luxury boutique hotel management group Akaryn Hotel Group is expanding its wellness-centric Aleenta Resort brand with a third property in Asia.

Named Aleenta Chiang Mai Resort & Spa, the destination will open in Q1 of 2023 and be a sister resort to the existing Aleenta properties in Phuket and Hua Hin.

Aleenta – which means “a rewarding life” – has served as the five-star hotel collection’s manifesto since its launch in 2006. Each destination is inspired by barefoot luxury and designed to offer a wellbeing retreat to help unite the mind, body and spirit.

All Aleenta properties provide holistic retreat programmes and retreats and feature luxury spa facilities inspired by the brand's in-house wellness concept Ayurah. The upcoming Chiang Mai property will follow suit but also stand out as the first in the portfolio to offer medical wellness treatments.

Anchalika Kijkanakorn, managing director at Akaryn, said: “After a fruitful few years with the success of the first two Aleenta resorts, we’re excited to be launching Aleenta Chiang Mai along with the addition of the holistic medical programmes, elevating the resort’s wellness offering to an unrivalled level in the region.

“Continuing to strive for excellence, the Aleenta brand will welcome additional properties over the next few years, expanding beyond the borders of Thailand.”

With an in-house doctor, nurse and master healer, the resort team will assist guests in working towards optimum wellness, through holistic approaches encompassing diet and nutrition, mental wellbeing, physical fitness and medical guidance, all set in a tranquil environment.

Guests will be able to choose from a selection of retreats with tailor-made programmes to help them reach their individual goals.

Ultimately, Akaryn says Aleenta Chiang Mai will be geared towards the health-conscious traveller seeking the “ultimate relaxation, holistic rebalancing and authentic Thai hospitality experience”.

Nourishing cuisine
Advocating that diet and nutrition are key components to health and wellbeing, the F&B programme at Aleenta Chiang Mai will consist of a menu of Thai dishes with a contemporary twist, with plant-based, low sugar/carb ingredients using local ingredients.

For those attending health retreats, nutritionists will be on hand to devise tailor-made diet plans to support guests through achieving their health goals, whether that be to curb sugar cravings, lose weight, lower cholesterol or general detoxing.

Accommodation
Offering 44 rooms only, Aleenta Chiang Mai will feature a combination of spacious hotel rooms all with private terraces as well as one-and-two-bedroom pool villas.

Each villa will be crafted from recovered, traditional teak wood, manifesting a sustainable design concept while celebrating the essence of rejuvenation.

The hotel’s most decadent accommodation offering consists of a four-bedroom teak wood villa, made from antique golden teak that was collected by the owner, restored and carefully reassembled into a new structure, inviting guests for a traditional Thai living experience finished with contemporary comforts and a private swimming pool.

With a clean and contemporary aesthetic, the hotel will be characterised by a palette of neutral hues, natural materials and sophisticated furnishings.

Additional facilities will include an outdoor swimming pool with a lounge area and bar, an all-day-dining restaurant, a library bar and a meeting room/event space, a workshop and a multipurpose area.
