More details have emerged of Apple’s highly-anticipated US$5bn Campus 2 compound in California, with the space-age site set to feature a 100,000sq ft gym as part of a prominent workplace wellness offering.
A newly-released video by Duncan Sinfield features drone footage of the under-construction campus in Cupertino, CA, which will be occupied by 12,000 Apple employees when it opens in 2017.
Among the standout features of the Foster + Partners-designed complex - which was pitched to Cupertino City Council by Steve Jobs himself in 2011 - will be the mammoth gym, with workplace wellness thought to have been a key consideration in the construction of the new site.
Workplace wellness is taking on growing importance for employers of all sizes as more companies start to appreciate the benefits of investing in a healthy workforce.
Planning documents revealed in late 2014, suggested the budget for gym is US$74m, which if correct would make it among the most expensive fitness facilities ever constructed. The papers listed a number of expected amenities for the facility, including changing rooms, showers, laundry, gym equipment and class studios, but no clues as to the standout features of a gym befitting a tech giant.
A spokesperson for Apple told Spa Opportunities that the company is unable to release further details of the gym or wellness aspects at this time, but added they will update if the situation changes.
Mandarin Oriental has announced a standalone residence brand, Mansions, which will debut at
Emirates Palace, Mandarin Oriental Mansions, Abu Dhabi, in 2029.
Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai in Hoi An, Vietnam, has put together a Global Wellness Day
(GWD) agenda with activations rooted in nature and shaped by four pillars of Joy – in
alignment with the day’s theme #JoyMagenta.
