India’s aqua fitness icon Rajni Maker is leading a water-based wellness programme between 14-18 June at Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives to celebrate Global Wellness Day (14 June).

Maker is known for her signature water-based fitness sessions for all abilities, including programmes for aqua Tabata, kickboxing, circuits, Pilates, aerobics and Zumba.

The experiences encourage guests to recharge and improve their relationships with themselves, the environment and their community, in alignment with Global Wellness Day’s 2025 theme of reconnection.

Sessions are held in the resort's 150-metre swimming pool, which the resort says is the largest pool in the Maldives.

“I am thrilled to bring my expertise to Kuda Villingili,” said Maker. “The resort’s serene setting and expansive aquatic spaces offer the ideal canvas for meaningful, water-based wellness experiences. My goal is to help every participant reconnect with their body and mind, while also leaving them with simple, sustainable practices they can continue at home – whether they are just beginning their wellness journey or are seasoned fitness enthusiasts.”

The schedule

The weekend started with a guided nature walk through the island’s lush landscape and guests received a beachside body scrub using traditional Maldivian ingredients.

Pilates sessions are part of the mix and Ranji is hosting a high-intensity aqua kick-boxing session that is designed to be joint-friendly.

Other activities include family beach HIIT and cooking classes, padel tennis matches, nature-inspired painting workshops and one-on-one wellness consultations with the resort’s specialist.

Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives facilities

The resort is in the North Male Atoll and has 75 villas with views of the Indian Ocean. In addition to seven restaurants, three bars and a whiskey lounge, the property has a private island spa with eight treatment villas.

The spa offers treatments using plant-based ingredients and ancient Eastern healing traditions, including Balinese massage, Traditional Thai massage, Lomi Lomi and prenatal therapies.

There is also a mindful movement pavilion and a fitness centre at the property.
