New 65,000sq ft wellness destination debuts in India
POSTED 14 Apr 2016 . BY Jane Kitchen
The property is nestled in the Sahyradri mountains overlooking Mulshi Lake, and is managed by Thailand-based wellness specialist Destination Spa Management
Atmantan, a 65,000sq ft (6,039sq m), 106-room dedicated wellness resort near Pune, India, opened its doors this week, offering a results-oriented approach to wellness with eight signature retreats.

The property is nestled in the Sahyradri mountains overlooking Mulshi Lake, and is managed by Thailand-based wellness specialist Destination Spa Management, whose directors cut their teeth as the former senior leadership of wellness destination Chiva-Som.

Set amid 40 acres of garden and farmland, Atmantan – whose name is derived from a unification of Atma (soul), Mana (mind) and Tann (body) – is designed by Thailand-based KTGY Inter Associates, with interior design by Pune-based Mintleaf Interiors, and owned by Nikhil and Sharmilee Kapur, who first conceptualised the resort in 2008.

The Wellness Pavilion features 23 spa and holistic treatment rooms, 10,000sq ft (929sq m) of fitness and physiotherapy, an indoor salt pool, a salon and wellness retail. It also includes a specialist Kriya pavilion for comprehensive, authentic ayurvedic programmes. ResortSuite was selected as the management software for the property.

“As an operator, it is a rare pleasure to have a resort that ticks all the boxes for a successful wellness property,” said Joy Menzies, DSM managing director. “The location is perfect, and the owners are fully committed to a results-oriented wellness concept. Atmantan’s motto is ‘Be Transformed,’ and we are delighted to have the staff, facilities, systems and evidence-based programmes to deliver on that promise.”

Sharmilee Kapur said she is “thrilled” to see her vision taken forward by DSM.

“Our intention is for Atmantan to truly be a place for personal transformation and deep understanding of holistic wellness – both key ingredients for a happy life,” she explained. “DSM has been instrumental in shaping our earliest vision and we are delighted to solidify that relationship for the long term by appointing them as manager.”

Dr Manoj Kutteri has been named wellness director at Atmantan, bringing 20 years of experience in the international wellness industry to the property, as well as extensive knowledge in mind-body medicine, naturopathy, ayurveda, nutrition, acupuncture, yoga and psychology.

“Atmantan is a one-of-a-kind international destination spa where guests from all over the world come to seek haven, review their life and be empowered to create the life that they dream of,” said Dr Manoj. “I am grateful to be able to work with this talented team of wellness and fitness professionals alongside the owner family, who hold the inspiring vision to truly make positive change to people’s lives.”
