International hotel group Banyan Tree has joined forces with Turkish real estate developers Nef to develop the group’s first location in Europe.

Scheduled to open in the Aegean resort of Yalikavak in spring 2017, Banyan Tree Bodrum will include a 70-bedroom luxury resort with spa facilities.

Situated on a headland of private beachfront surrounded by sea on three sides, the resort will include Banyan Tree’s tropical spa concept spanning 2,000sq m (21527 sq ft) and feature 14 spa suites each with a private pool, 40 standard rooms and 30 branded suites.

Adopting a ‘Sanctuary for the Senses’ wellness concept, the Spa focuses on Asian health and beauty remedies passed down from generations. It will offer bodycare and facials in private treatment rooms, a beach spa and Turkish bath.

With therapists trained at the Banyan Tree Spa Academy in Phuket, Thailand, the Spa has also introduced innovative spa concepts such as its signature “rainforest experience” concept designed for hydrothermal therapies and wellness.

Also on site will be two restaurants, an a la carte restaurant by the sea, a private lounge and library, and a sunset bar. The development also includes private residences.

“It is exciting for Banyan Tree to work together with Nef to develop and later operate the Banyan Tree Bodrum in the Gökçebel district of Bodrum,” said Maximilian Lennkh, vice president, business development of Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts.

“We are like-minded in our philosophy of developing ecologically sensitive and sustainable developments, providing luxurious experiences for our clients. Bodrum is a wonderful destination attracting large numbers of national and international travellers looking forward to experience the tranquility and natural beauty of the Turkish Riviera. The project opening in Bodrum is a first step into Europe and we are looking forward to extending and growing further.”
