Banyan Tree still plans to debut in Malaysia in Q3 2020 with beachfront wellness resort
POSTED 07 Apr 2020 . BY Megan Whitby
The resort is scheduled to open in Q3 2020
Hotel group Banyan Tree is opening a luxury beachfront wellness resort – called Angsana Teluk Bahang – in Penang, Malaysia.

The company has confirmed it still plans to open in Q3 2020, in spite of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Angsana Teluk Bahang will feature a wellness centre and Angsana spa. It will be operated and managed under the Banyan Tree Group’s luxury Angsana brand and is the latest addition to its global portfolio.

The project’s budget is projected to be a maximum of MYR2.9m (US$672,269, €612,621, £544,939).

Guests will be able to visit an Angsana spa with a menu offering a blend of traditional Thai remedies, western techniques and fresh botanicals, with twelve double treatment rooms with en suite facilities.

In addition, the spa will feature a signature rain mist facility, steamroom, sauna and beauty salon.

The destination’s lifestyle wellness centre will offer anti-ageing and rejuvenating services, integrative medicine, a medical clinic, mind and body therapy and wellness retail.

Guests will also have access to a fitness centre and five dining experiences.

In charge of design for the development is Malaysian architectural firm, Veritas Architects, while interiors are by Banyan Tree Group’s design arm, Architrave.

The hotel will have 250 rooms, including 77 suites, with interiors and design influenced by Straits architecture and local Peranakan culture. All suites will have ocean views and direct access to the beach.
