New wellness concept targeting luxury hotels secures first site
POSTED 19 Jul 2017 . BY Tom Walker
The treatment menu at the spa includes signature body journeys by ESPA, traditional Chinese medicine and a range of beauty treatments
A new personalised health and wellness concept is looking to target luxury hotels and high-end residential properties in the UK and Europe.

Created by entrepreneur David Higgins – co-founder of Ten Health & Fitness – BodySPace combines a premium fitness gym with nutritional advice and wellness solutions, including spa treatments.

The first BodySPace site was launched at the Kingwood residential project in Knightsbridge, London earlier this month, after Higgins and co-founder Stephen Price – founder of the ultra-luxury fitness club SP&Co – secured a deal with Kingwood developer Finchatton.

The 1,300sq m (14,000sq ft) flagship site at Kingwood houses two gyms equipped by Technogym, with one featuring six CV stations, four strength stations and other freestanding equipment.

The other gym has been set up as a functional training space, with a range of strength, balance and stability equipment – including a pilates reformer, two private CV stations and heart rate testing and monitoring equipment by Firstbeat.

Spa facilities include a luxury treatment room, sauna and steamroom.

The treatment menu at the spa includes signature body journeys by ESPA, traditional Chinese medicine and a range of beauty treatments – including technical skincare using Forlle’d products and traditional skincare by de Mamiel.

As part of the holistic approach to wellness, BodySPace will also provide nutritional therapist sessions, a consultant chef, a physiotherapist and other remedial therapists.

The programmes at BodySPace are designed to improve sleep, increase energy, reduce stress, strengthen mindfulness, enhance exercise performance, boost long-term weight loss, increase strength, supplement rehabilitation programme and even aid recovery for post-chemotherapy patients.

“BodySPace is a personalised wellness concept for high end residential properties and luxury hotels worldwide,” said David Higgins, BodySPace co-founder.

Explaining the business model at the first site, he added: “Residents can use the facilities whenever they would like to and have full priority access to the BodySPace team.

“They receive membership rates for all sessions and treatments, as they are automatically members of BodySPace once they purchase their properties within Kingwood. Residents will also have access to partner venues (launching soon), including workshops, events and guest practitioners.

“There will be 30 private members on fully supported, pre-booked programmes run from the functional training room to ensure ultimate privacy for residents and members alike.”

According to Higgins, BodySPace will now look to expand and enter the hotel market – with an undisclosed "renowned, luxury hotel" site already secured in London and set to open in September.

“The concept is designed to fit seamlessly into luxury hotels, spas, resorts and private residences,” he said.

Higgins added that BodySPace will be looking to add sites worldwide.
