Canyon Ranch extends offering
POSTED 04 Aug 2009 . BY Sarah Todd
US-based health and wellness company Canyon Ranch is to launch a new division of its brand, called Canyon Ranch SpaClub at Sea.

The new at-sea division is intended to enable Canyon Ranch to “offer an additional type of experience to its existing guests”.

Canyon Ranch has operated a SpaClub on board Cunard’s flagship liner Queen Mary 2 since she first set sail in 2004 and will continue to do so, but will expand the offering to include new services and a new range of treatments.

Canyon Ranch will also be collaborating with Cunard on a range of cooperative marketing initiatives and promotions.

Next to debut within the new at-sea brand, in late August, will be the Canyon Ranch SpaClub at Sea across all three of Oceania Cruises’ fleets. Oceania’s Regatta, Insignia and Nautica ships sail from Miami and Los Angeles, US, to multiple Caribbean and central US destinations.

A further SpaClub at Sea will be developed aboard Oceania’s new ship, Marnia, which will debut in late 2010. The facility will have 16 treatment rooms, a thalassotherapy pool, two whirlpools and a thermal suite.

Canyon Ranch’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Smith, said: “SpaClub at Sea is a natural brand extension for us. We look forward to introducing the Canyon Ranch lifestyle to a new, at-sea audience.”

Husband-and-wife team Mel and Enid Zuckerman opened the first Canyon Ranch Health Resort in Tucson, Arizona, US, in 1979.

The company currently has two health resorts – in Tucson, Arizona, and Lenox, Massachusetts – and SpaClubs in Las Vegas, Florida and aboard the Queen Mary 2.

In addition, there is Canyon Ranch Living Miami Beach which opened in October 2008 and features condominiums and hotel suites, as well as a 70,000sq ft (6,500sq m) spa and wellness facility. Details: canyonranch.com
