Fáilte Ireland, together with a nominated industry working group and a spa expert, has developed a new spa and wellness categorisation system for Irish spas.
Imelda Rey, who leads Fáilte Ireland’s Health, Wellness and Spa arm, invited representatives from across the wellness industry – including dedicated spa operators, hotel spa managers and health farm operators – to form the working group.
The principal aims of the new system are to inform the consumer and create a foundation for defining clear standards.
Irish spa industry members will now be asked to complete an application for assessment. Following inspections, a brochure and website will be prepared by Fáilte Ireland, listing all spas by category.
