Champneys has opened a fourth new day spa in the UK town of Guildford.

The Champneys High Street Spa is situated on the High Street in the Surrey-based town and follows the launches of the first, flagship site in Chichester at the end of 2006.

Two further sites in Enfield and St Albans also opened earlier this year.

Two of the four boutique spas now open – in Guildford and St Albans – are located in restored, listed buildings. The Enfield spa is located within a shopping development.

Each spa cost between £300,000 (442,580 euro, US$611,000) and £600,000 (885,165 euro, US$1.2m) to create and averages seven treatment rooms plus mani and pedicure stations.

Co-owners Stephen and Dorothy Purdew have also revealed plans to open eight further day spas in the UK over the course of the next year, eventually leading to a total of 50 spas within the next three years.
