Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed an agreement with Grupo Hotelera Aguas Verdes to manage the Villarrica Park Lake Hotel & Spa as part of Starwood's Luxury Collection brand.
The hotel's 70 rooms and suites will undergo a revamp ahead of the property reopening in December and becoming Starwood's seventh under management across Chile.
Villarrica Park Lake Hotel & Spa, built in 2002 and situated in the Araucania region of Chile 435 miles south of Santiago, offers facilities including meeting rooms, a 24-hour business centre, three restaurants, including the gourmet Aguas Verdes, and a bar lounge.
The hotel's spa provides a range of indigenous treatments, a fully equipped sauna and steam room, a fitness centre and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
Further afield, the Villarrica and nearby Pucon areas are renowned for a natural environment characterised by volcanoes, lakes and rivers, thermal baths, ski centres and national parks.
The region also features the archeological remains of the Spanish colonial period combined with the influence of the Mapuche indigenous culture, Chile's first inhabitants.
