Deepak Chopra-backed wellness resort Ameyalli to open among historic Utah hot springs

Deepak Chopra, in collaboration with the Chopra Foundation and developer Charles Heath, is co-developing a wellness community in Utah’s Heber Valley
Named Ameyalli, the development will be home to a boutique resort, residences and comprehensive wellness and fitness facilities
The vision aims to integrate nature, architecture, and wellness programmes, utilising geothermal waters historically used for nearly 5,000 years
The resort has been designed by Overland Partners and Alder and Tweed Design, with spa consultancy services provided by Under A Tree
Wellness industry figure Deepak Chopra is co-developing a new wellness community and resort focused on wellbeing and longevity in Utah’s Heber Valley, centred around natural geothermal springs.

Named Ameyalli – an Aztec term meaning "a place where the healing water flows" – the project is a collaboration between Chopra, the Chopra Foundation and developer and managing partner Charles Heath.

Heath, who acquired the thermal springs site, has set out to create an unparalleled resort. His vision is rooted in his global quest for extraordinary wellbeing experiences and partnerships. This journey led him to collaborate with Chopra and the Chopra Foundation to establish a community fostering transformational human experiences.

Ameyalli will feature an 80-key boutique hotel, 24 residences and a wellbeing centre with more than 50,000sq ft of wellness amenities, including a subterranean mineral pool. Guests will also have access to a geothermal water circuit, an outdoor sauna, sunken lounges and a raw-edge water sanctum that blends with the scenic surroundings.

Fitness amenities will include a yoga and Pilates studio, an outdoor movement lawn, two pickleball courts, functional fitness spaces and healing and recovery sanctuaries.

Programming offered at Ameyalli’s Wellbeing Center will be aligned with Chopra's teachings and his Seven Pillars of Wellbeing; emotional regulation, mindfulness, sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships and laughter.

"Our location in Utah offers a plethora of possibilities beyond skiing – from golf to world-class fly fishing. But the real point of difference for our development is that it’s a perfect union of awe-inspiring nature, architectural ingenuity and life-altering programmes and pursuits,” says Heath.

"Archaeological history suggests that humans have utilised these hot springs for close to 5,000 years. It’s so rewarding to help another generation of residents and visitors experience the healing benefits of the geothermal waters at this property, designed in a one-of-a-kind collaboration with the Chopra Foundation."

Overlooked by Mount Timpanogos and the Wasatch Range of the south-central Rocky Mountains, Ameyalli will also include walking paths, a 55-acre natural geological preserve and a biodiverse garden that will fuel the property's farm-to-table dining experience.

The Chopra Foundation has selected the property as its North American headquarters. The Ameyalli Wellbeing Center includes meeting space to house the future Ameyalli Center of Excellence, which will be a gathering place for global thought leaders and home to the Chopra Foundation's select special events, retreats and think tanks.

The property's first model home will be completed in June 2024.

Architecture and design
Rooted in sustainability, Ameyalli’s low-profile, nature-forward architecture was designed by San Antonio-based Overland Partners, with interior design overseen by Alder and Tweed Design.

Spa and wellness consultancy Under A Tree has also been appointed to help realise the project.

The residences and gathering spaces will reflect the area’s Swiss heritage, incorporating natural materials such as wood and pot rock from the geothermal landscape, with roofs fringed with native grasses, all designed for multi-generational family wellness and recreation.
