Donnington Valley Hotel in Newbury, UK, will open its new £5m health club and spa in August 2006 – four weeks ahead of schedule.
The centre is part of a £14m development which will also see the addition of 53 new bedrooms to the four-star hotel.
Located in a new building linked to the hotel and designed by Lee Battersby of Compton Lacey, the 1,600sq m (17,000sq ft) health club and spa will boast a 160sq m (1,720sq ft) gym with up to 35 exercise stations and a 70sqm (750sq ft) dance studio.
The equipment in the gym will be provided by Life Fitness with a Fitlinxx management system.
The wet area will include an 18m lap pool with a lounge and relaxation area and a sun terrace, a steamroom, sauna, aromatherapy room and monsoon shower.
On the first floor there will be six individually designed treatment rooms – with E’Spa products – a relaxation area and roof terrace.
“The temptation to make a token gesture at adding leisure facilities has been avoided,” said Donnington Valley’s managing director Andrew McKenzie, “Our significant investment in the area will be evident to all.”
