Dubai developer Damac begins construction of a 33-storey tower in Jumeirah Village

Dubai developer Damac has begun work on a 33-storey tower in Jumeirah Village, complete with 388 serviced living units, expected to open mid 2017.

Conceptualised and designed by its in-house team of architects, the tower’s Chrysalis Spa at Vantage offers separate male and female steamrooms and saunas – as is the local custom – a whirlpool, floatation room, beauty salon and fitness centre.

The Chrysalis Spa will feature a fusion of traditional Arabic principles, Asian traditions and progressive European concepts and bathing rituals. The interior has a modern wood theme and soothing earthy tones.

“A luxury serviced hotel provides all the luxurious services expected in a five-star hotel, with the benefits of a family, homely environment,” Jon Barber, senior manager of corporate communications for Damac, told Spa Opportunities.

“All of the luxury serviced hotel apartments come complete with a fully-fitted kitchen, lounge and TV area and en-suite bathrooms. The spacious rooms create a feeling of home-away-from-home,” Barber said.

The tower will be managed by Damac Hotels – the hospitality arm of Damac Properties – and it will be the second luxury serviced hotel apartment project since the company’s 50-storey tower Damac Maison which opened on 30 December 2013.

In the last few years, Damac has focused on growing its serviced living portfolio, and by 2017 it expects to have 8,000 serviced hotel apartments in operation across the region.

Damac has benefited from renewed growth in Dubai’s property market and has delivered 9,318 units to date. The company currently has a development portfolio of over 25,000 units at various stages of progress and planning as of 31 December 2013.
