Ensana has also announced it will open wellness resorts in Montegrotto Terme, Italy, as well as in Ain Najm, Saudi Arabia
One of Europe’s largest operators of health spa hotels, Ensana, has announced its plans to double its international portfolio by 2030.

Founded in 2019, the company operates 28 health spa hotels in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania and the UK.

The expansion will focus on historic spa towns and regions with natural resources in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Germany

Ensana will take over the management of its first German property in Q2 of 2026, the Fürstenhof Hotel in the spa town of Bad Griesbach, Bavaria.

The rooms and wellness areas of the property are currently undergoing extensive renovations.

The Fürstenhof Hotel is surrounded by areas with thermal springs, forests and an 18-hole golf course.

Ensana plans to offer packages for guests who play golf, such as reduced fees and reserved tee times.

The wellness treatments will combine natural remedies with medical expertise, such as tailored health programmes for the musculoskeletal system, stress reduction and holistic wellbeing.

Frank Halmos, CEO, Ensana, said: “The step to come to Germany marks an important milestone within our growth strategy and will strengthen Ensana’s leading role in European spa hospitality.”

“We believe strongly that with our expertise, we will enrich and extend the offering in Bad Griesbach – especially with the goal of addressing a new generation of health-conscious guests,” added Halmos. “With a focus on individual care, innovative remedies and a holistic approach for personal wellbeing, Ensana will redefine the spa experience in Lower Bavaria.”

Other locations

Ensana has also announced it will open wellness resorts in Montegrotto Terme, Italy, as well as in Ain Najm, Saudi Arabia.

Mark Hennebry, chair of Ensana, told Spa Business: “As Europe’s leading health spa brand, Ensana has devoted significant resources to building relationships with a network of investors, developers and brokers over the last few years. That focus has resulted in a strong foundation in building a pipeline of potential new opportunities to expand the Ensana brand across Europe.

“The recent signings of agreements to operate spa hotels in Montegrotto in Italy and Bad Griesbach in Germany, along with the recent announcement about potential opportunities in Saudi Arabia, underpin our targeted growth trajectory to double our portfolio in the next five years,” added Hennebry.”

“Ensana has been at the forefront of implementing integrative medicine in spa hotel contexts,” he said. “There is a growing understanding in many markets that healing treatments, based on a combination of natural resources and evidence-based medicine, provide positive results for our guests. At Ensana, one of our core tenets is the democratisation of health, providing quality spa programmes to a wide and deep market.”
