The Massachusetts Department of Public Safety has reportedly halted the operation of all Sizzler amusement park rides in the US state until seat belts are installed.
The Associated Press reported that the move followed an announcement by the ride’s manufacturer that it recommended fitting seatbelts – following incidents of riders coming out of their seats.
A 38-year-old man was killed in 2004 when a Sizzler broke apart, the supervisor subsequently pleaded guilty to manslaughter for not fixing mechanical problems properly and last April a seven-year-old boy was killed when he stood up and fell out of the ride.
