Forestis’ tree ceremony body ritual stimulates five senses using alpine wood, tree sap and healing crystals

Alpine tree species and ancient Celtic nature doctrines are inspiring spa programming at Forestis in South Tyrol, a secluded Italian alpine retreat surrounded by forests and a dramatic mountain backdrop.

The luxury resort is located 1,800m above sea level and home to a 2,000sq m spa set across two floors with views of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Dolomites.

Both the spa and resort draw deep inspiration from the surrounding forests in their design, philosophy and programming.

All spa treatments are based on the four elements combined with four indigenous trees: mountain pine, spruce, larch and Swiss stone pine. Highlights include the spa’s signature Tree Circle Ceremony treatments where guests can choose which tree they most align with.

Alessandra Tiengo, Forestis spa manager, believes each tree possesses different active substances, frequencies and material substances that allow the human body to regenerate deeply.

During the spa’s 110-minute Tree Circle Ceremony body ritual (€220, £188, US$250) guests begin by choosing the tree species that best suits their current physical and mental state by smelling, seeing and touching each wood.

Each tree species corresponds to its own treatment using a unique selection of therapeutic wood, healing stones, acoustic frequencies and movement.

Next, guests are treated to a soothing drink containing the sap from their chosen tree. This is also used at the end of treatments to complete the journey.

The fragrance of the chosen tree is then sprayed into the room where guests receive a cleansing foot bath, using spruce bath salt and local mineral water.

This is followed by an energy-balancing massage using the guest’s chosen wood and stone combination, all of which are selected to supply new energy, resolve blockages, create harmony and leave guests feeling physically activated.

Like all other Forestis treatments, the ritual is tailored to guests preferences and physical and mental needs and incorporates Forestis’ in-house face and body care line powered by the essences of the four alpine trees.

The Forest Tree Circle Ceremony is also available as an 80-minute body treatment (€165, £141, US$195) and has been adapted into an 80-minute (€145, £124, US$171) or 110-minute facial (€190, £162, US$224).
