The Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland, is to invest £18m in preperation for hosting the Ryder Cup in 2014.
The development scheme includes room refurbishment and a new spa and restaurant, as well as improvements to the golf course and estate.
Gleneagles held the first ever Ryder Cup – or the Herald Match Play Championship as it was known – in 1921.
The hotel played hosted to the G8 summit last summer, which according to a spokesperson, has “reinforced the hotel’s determination to maximise the Ryder Cup’s long term potential”.
The hotel’s redevelopments will be backed by parent company Diageo. Details: www.gleneagles.com
