Iron Man takes flight with new Hong Kong Disneyland experience
POSTED 19 Jan 2017 . BY Tom Anstey
The world-first 4D attraction takes guests on a journey through the world of Tony Stark, including a tour of the Stark Expo and a virtual flight over Hong Kong with Iron Man as he battles Hydra
Hong Kong Disneyland has launched its latest attraction and first Marvel-themed ride – the new Iron Man Experience.

Complete with flight simulators, 3-D projection, surround sound and other special effects, the world-first 4D attraction takes guests on a journey through the world of Tony Stark, including a tour of the Stark Expo and a virtual flight over Hong Kong with Iron Man as he battles Hydra.

The attraction also offer opportunities to meet Iron Man in person during the adventure, and to try on the Iron Man armor virtually, with four exhibition halls showcasing objects such as Captain America’s prototype shield, the Iron Man Mark III suit, the first miniaturized Arc Reactor, the unbreakable Stark Everglass, the MyJARVIS intelligent home system, and a collection of Iron Wings.

Guests can also buy Iron Man merchandise from the new Expo Shop and enjoy a range of Iron Man-themed dining options at the resort hotels.

“This first Iron Man ride-through attraction and immersive interactive experience will truly make Hong Kong proud, as more than 70 Disney Imagineers from the city contributed their innovative talent working hand in hand with the international Walt Disney Imagineering team and the Marvel team to create this world’s first Iron Man-themed area,” said Bob Chapek, chair of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts.

"We are always pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation so that our guests can step into the magical worlds of their favourite stories and meet their most beloved characters.”

As part of its development plan, a new Marvel-themed ride will debut in 2018, with further Marvel-themed expansions planned, including a ride based on The Avengers.
