Lava Shells founder launches new product house called Sensory Retreats
POSTED 09 Dec 2019 . BY Megan Whitby
Clare Anderson, the founder of Lava Shells and kokolokahi, has launched a product house.

I felt that traditional massage treatments and aftercare were only working on one or two of the senses. As a result, Sensory Retreats was born.
– Clare Anderson, Sensory Retreats founder
Clare Anderson, the founder of brands Lava Shells and kokolokahi, has launched a product house and holistic wellbeing brand called Sensory Retreats.

The brand offers three restorative massage treatments, a range of retail products and personal experiences which are designed to elevate wellbeing.

Anderson told Spa Business: “The need to retreat from daily life has become increasingly important and necessary for our emotional and mental self-care.

“From my own experience working with spas and developing product lines, I didn’t feel that traditional massage treatments and aftercare were fully providing this solution, instead they work on just one or two of the senses. As a result, Sensory Retreats was born”.

Each massage in the range has been developed to stimulate the five senses and deliver a specific wellbeing benefit, including spiritual and emotional restoration, mind and body revival, self-empowerment, improvement of circulation and easing of muscle tension.

The three massages offered include Sensory Retreats Lava Shells Massage, Sensory Retreats Mandala Flow and the signature offering – Sensory Retreats Divine Escapes.

In addition, guests will be able to enhance the signature massage with the warmth of Therma Bliss’ self-heating tools, including lava shells, cowrie shells and molten lava stones. Other options include the use of the ThermaMask, Therma Herbal Poultice and nourishing paraffin wax hand and foot masks.

Devised in co-operation with wellness specialist, Candice Pennington, the Sensory Retreats Mandala Flow treatment will be launched as an exclusive treatment for the Stoke Park Hotel & Spa in Buckinghamshire, UK, in December.

Anna Thomas, spa director at Stoke Park Spa says: “A spa experience should awaken all your senses and ensure you take a moment to stop and refresh. I feel that the Sensory Retreats will deliver this perfectly”.

Sensory Retreats has also announced plans to expand its treatment range in March 2020.
