Clifton Lido in Bristol, one of the oldest Grade II-listed swimming pools in Britain, officially reopened on 24 November following an extensive £2m (2.27m euro, US$2.97m) restoration project.
Facilities at the spa include six treatment rooms and two saunas. Therapies use the ILA Beyond Organic range while other facilities include a poolside bar and a restaurant.
Bristol-based restaurant firm, the Glass Boat Company, was behind the renovation of the lido, which had been closed for nearly two decades.
Partner in the Glass Boat Company, Arne Ringer, said: “We had a vision of the Lido being a very accessible social hub for locals and as a destination for those curious to see how a 19th Century lido can be adapted to modern life.”
Architects Marshall Kendon worked in conjunction with English Heritage on the two-year redevelopment of the new-look lido.
Funding came primarily from private investment, although the Low Carbon Trust also contributed a grant towards the Lido’s green features, including the solar panels and a waste heat exchange system. Details: cliftonlido.com
