Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, one of the largest privately owned hotel brands in the UK, has announced plans to focus on the growth of its spa hotels with the introduction of the Spa Collection.
The first capital expenditure under the new strategy will see the group invest £4m in the refurbishment of its flagship spa hotel, the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa, Stirling.
The spa at the Scottish Manor House, will boast eight treatment rooms, a rock sauna, a 20m swimming pool, ice fountain, massage shower, rasul and a health suite equipped by Technogym.
The hotel was designed by THR3 Design Consultants with Fitzimons acting as project manager.
Describing the company's future plans, a spokesperson said: "With the growing demand for hotels that offer a full spa experience we have earmarked our spa offerings as an area of focus. We are always looking for suitable properties to grow our brand portfolio and those with potential to become part of our Spa Collection will become of particular interest to us over the next few years."
