Mandara Spa enters Japanese market
POSTED 10 Apr 2003 . BY
Mandara Spa will open in Japan this summer, at Royal Park Shiodome Tower.

Although this is the group's first spa in Japan, Japanese spa-goers are already familiar with the Mandara brand. More Japanese visit the Mandara Spas in Bali, Guam, Malaysia, Saipan, Thailand and The Maldives than any other nationality, and are the group's number one source of business.

Mandara Spa president Jeff Matthews hopes that this loyalty will be a good foundation for success when the spa opens in Tokyo in July.

'After all these years of the Japanese coming to us, we think it is time that we take ourselves to Japan. In a sense, it feels like coming home.'

The spa, which is a partnership between Mandara Spa Asia and Royal Park Hotels, will be built on the same philosophies as Mandara's resort spas, but will be influenced by a city location.

The spa menu will have more choices and will include Decleor beauty treatments, because of their 'contemporary style and effective treatment of city-stressed skin.' As well as offering long-standing favourites like Balinese massage and Javanese Lular, the Tokyo spa will introduce additional treatments such as Shiro Dhara and Indian head massage.

The city spa will feature suites with private jet baths and showers, three ladies and three mens' spa rooms, separate male and female relaxation lounges and a hydrotherapy area with a silk bath, jet bath and a wet and dry sauna.
