Mandarin Oriental to open luxury resort in Bali
POSTED 30 Jan 2014 . BY Martin Nash
The new resort will be situated on Bali's southern Bukit peninsula
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is to expand its portfolio by opening a luxury resort on Bali's southern Bukit peninsula.

Scheduled to open at the end of 2016, the new 121-key project - owned and developed by Bali Ragawisata - will be situated on an elevated terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean and form part of the Bukit Pandawa development. The accommodation is to consist of 97 villas - each with its own private pool - and 24 guestrooms.

Created by Jean Michel Gathy of Denniston International, both villas and rooms will be contemporary in style, with design elements influenced by the local area's culture and the Group's oriental heritage. They will also incorporate Mandarin Oriental's guest-centred technology and entertainment systems.

An all-inclusive Spa at Mandarin Oriental is to offer a range of wellness, beauty and massage treatments, including the company's signature programmes as well as specifically developed treatments inspired by Balinese traditions and customs. The 1,725sq m (18,500sq ft) spa will feature eight treatment rooms, plus heat and water therapies, a 100m outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a number of private lifestyle cabanas, and an extensive fitness centre.

Elsewhere, the new resort will feature three restaurants and bars, including a signature cantilevered cliff-top restaurant, a three-meal restaurant and a beach grill and bar. Also available will be a range of multi-purpose function rooms, amongst which is to be a cliff-top ceremony platform suitable for weddings.

Also on offer will be a Beach Club, Kids Club, retail opportunities, a library and an 18-hole golf course.
