Following its acquisition earlier this year, The Mary Reid International School of Beauty is to relaunch under a new name, the Mary Reid Spa Academy, and in new premises, on 12 August.

Now situated on North Castle Street in Edinburgh, Scotland, the changes follow the appointment of new owner and principal Brian Hunter. A new syllabus will also be introduced, aimed at providing a more complete skillset for spa therapists, with a greater focus placed on spa therapy and management courses.

Brian Hunter signed the acquisition deal for the school in March 2009 and has become only the third principal since the college was founded in 1954. He said: "Moving premises gives us the opportunity to re-focus the academy, with a curriculum that will prepare our students for working in all areas of the spa industry, from entry level right up to spa management and operations."
