The creation of an Anantara property in the US is part of Minor Hotels' wider expansion plan

Minor Hotels has announced plans to open its first Anantara-branded property, Anantara Miami Resort and Residences, in 2030.

The development of this property marks a step in Minor Hotels’ strategic expansion into the US.

The 50-floor tower is being developed in partnership with One Thousand Group where the city’s Design District, Wynwood and Edgewater neighbourhoods intersect, with views over Biscayne Bay. One Thousand Group is known for its work on the city’s Villa Miami and One Thousand Museum – one of the final towers designed by Zaha Hadid.

Architecture is by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), in collaboration with ODP Architecture and Design and with interiors by Patricia Urquiola.

The Anantara philosophy of immersive, experience-led hospitality has been translated for this US setting as an urban sanctuary. The brand will bring its principles of healing and modern longevity to the property.

There will be 50 hotel suites, 100 private residences and 120 resort residences – where owners will make their residences available to hotel guests. Residence sales are expected to launch later this year, with One Sotheby’s International Realty acting as the sales partner.

Vitality centre

The property will have a dedicated vitality centre, with a focus on longevity, including facilities for movement, nutrition and recovery. Holistic programming will be based on signature Anantara Thai healing traditions.

Kevin Venger, co-founder of One Thousand Group, said, “Anantara Miami Resort and Residences introduces something entirely new to the US. It’s not just another branded residence, but a fully realised concept that blends hospitality, private ownership and longevity into one unified experience.”

Other facilities and attractions

The site will have a private rooftop helipad, to provide access to destinations such as the Florida Keys, Palm Beach and the Bahamas, in addition to hospitality-led experiences.

The hotel and residences will be located in a walkable neighbourhood, with access to Pérez Art Museum, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

Minor Hotels’ expansion plan

In January, Minor Hotels announced its plans to deepen its brands’ presence in priority markets.

Of the 25 new deals it expected to sign in Q1, more than 60 per cent were expected to take place in the Middle East and Asia. This move is designed to drive a higher contribution from those regions to balance its presence in Europe – which, at the time, represented more than half of the group’s portfolio. It is unclear how this expansion has been affected by the conflict in the Middle East.

Key strategic cities in North America and the Caribbbean were also highlighted as priorities for the debut of multiple hospitality brands in the luxury segment, including the Anantara Miami Resort and Residences.

Minor Hotels recently announced it will open its first hotel under its new brand, The Wolseley Hotels in New York, US, in 2027.

Australia will also see an increase in luxury-branded Minor Hotels properties.

In North Africa, Minor Hotels also recently formed a joint venture with Sunrise Resorts and Cruises to develop 50 properties in Egypt. It will also look to develop hotels in Morocco.

In January 2025, Minor Hotels formed another joint venture with Royal Holdings to develop 21 properties in Japan under brands including Anantara, Avani and Tivoli.

Minor Hotels also has a pipeline of more than 12 projects in India.

The group will also pursue the operation of resort destinations in the Mediterranean in Europe.
