The International Spa Association (ISPA) has named Technogym CEO and founder Nerio Alessandri as the 2023 ISPA Visionary Award winner.

ISPA will present Alessandri with the award at the 31st annual ISPA Conference at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, from 9-11 May, 2023.

The ISPA Visionary Award is presented each year to someone in the spa industry who has made significant contributions to both the definition and positive movement of health and wellness over the lifetime of their career.

“On behalf of the entire Technogym team, I’m very proud to receive this award,” said Alessandri.

“At Technogym, we have a long-term vision summarised by our motto; ‘Let’s move for a better world’. Together with the team, we work every day to innovate and envisage new technologies, solutions and content to help people live a better and longer life thanks to regular physical exercise and to support industry operators in having a positive impact on their communities by spreading the culture of wellness.”

At the age of 22, Alessandri founded Technogym out of his home garage. The company has grown into a leading brand in equipment and digital technologies for fitness, wellness and sport, based in Cesena, Italy, and present all over the world.

Today, Technogym is worth approximately US$2bn and is one of the most popular gym equipment brands worldwide with nearly 55 million users every day across 100 countries.

“We’re over the moon that Nerio will be joining us in person, and it’s an honour to welcome him on the ISPA stage as he’s making an indelible mark on the world of fitness and wellbeing innovation,” said Lynne McNees, ISPA president.

“Nerio’s 35 years in the industry largely embodies the exact definition of our Visionary Award with his positivity and passion for wellness and continuous improvement upon all facets of the health improvement lifestyle.”

The philosophy and concept promoted by Alessandri are detailed in his books and publications which have already been highlighted with awards and global recognition of Technogym.

Notably, Technogym’s integration of performance-based design coupled with cutting-edge biomechanics and digital technology has made them the official supplier for the Olympic Games eight times and the fitness equipment of choice for many world-class athletes and champions.
