The Leading Hotels of the World organisation has launched a new concept called Leading Spas, which it claims is the first international luxury spa evaluation and certification programme.
The group, which represents five-star hotels across the world, hopes that Leading Spas will become a global benchmark for luxury standards in both the spa and hospitality industries.
To be certified as a Leading Spa, a hotel’s spa facilities and services need to pass an inspection that includes over 200 criteria.
Of the 90 Leading Hotels that have so far requested a Leading Spas inspection, just over half met the requirements. Those that did included The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, Carlisle Bay on Antigua and Brenner’s Park Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden, Germany. Details: www.lhw.com
