A new hotel and spa resort is to be developed on the site of the existing Wyndham Beach Resort in Southampton, Bermuda.
The 32-acre oceanfront site will accommodate a 150-bedroom hotel, a luxury spa and fitness centre as well as several swimming pools, retail areas and restaurants.
The new resort will be as environmentally-advanced as possible – incorporating sustainability best practices and materials in the operation and construction of the property.
CEO of Scout Real Estate Capital, Alan Worden, said: “As a leisure-orientated company, Scout provides authentic experiences in
spectacular locations.
“We are totally committed to great design
at every level – in our properties, our
programmes and the experiences we provide.”
Bermuda-based members of the project team include Cooper Gardner Architects, Entech Engineering and Bermuda Water Consultants.
The property was acquired by US development company Scout Real Estate Capital in 2006, with financial backing from Lehman Brothers. Demolition of the existing site is expected to take up to a year to complete, with construction beginning immediately afterwards.
The resort is scheduled to open in 2010.
