Thanet District Council in Kent has unveiled plans for a new £3.5m swimming pool and spa at Ramsgate Sports Centre.

Alliance Leisure is the council's preferred company to realise a scheme which would see a new building erected next door to the existing sports centre and housing a six lane, 25m deck level pool, along with a separate training pool.

Also part of the plans is a new spa facility, which will include four treatment rooms, a hydro pool, a steam room, a sauna, a salt grotto, power showers and a foot spa.

Other improvements to the centre will see the introduction of new wet changing facilities, a new entrance and a café area.

The proposals, which will be considered by Cabinet Members on 10 December, would see the council acting as a loan guarantor for Thanet Leisure Force for the cost of the scheme.
