A purpose-built destination spa has opened at The Peninsula Bangkok hotel.
Costing US$5m (3.8m euro, £2.6m) to build, the spa is located on the riverside and housed in a three-storey Thai colonial-style building.
The spa was designed by Thailand-based architects Woods Bagot while Hong Kong-based Chhada Siembieda Associates were responsible for the interiors.
Covering 19,000sq ft (1,774sq m), the spa has 14 treatment rooms including four private spa suites and relaxation rooms with views of Chao Phraya river.
Signature treatments include a range of Peninsula Ceremonies developed by ESPA, such as the Thai Yoga Massage Ceremony.
Other wellness facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, steamroom and whirlpools.
The spa will be managed and operated by The Peninsula Bangkok – owned by The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels – in partnership with ESPA International.
