Sense spa opens at new Vancouver hotel
POSTED 28 Sep 2011 . BY Pete Hayman
Rosewood Hotels and Resorts (RHR) has announced the launch of its eighth Sense-branded spa at the newly-unveiled Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, Canada.

Located on the fourth floor of the 155-room hotel, the spa boasts separate facilities for both men and women with sauna and steamrooms and offers a full range of treatments.

Five treatment rooms; a manicure/pedicure lounge; and a wet treatment room with Vichy shower are also on offer at the spa, which uses products from Priori, Beauty Through Balance, Spa Ritual and Tara Spa Therapy.

Adjacent to the spa is a 54ft (16.5m) indoor saltwater lap pool and a fitness centre, while an outdoor garden courtyard is also provided for guests to relax after a spa treatment.

To celebrate the launch of the latest Sense spa, RHR has revealed that all eight of its facilities will offer the new Vancouver Signature Sensation.

Using indigenous ingredients from the Vancouver region, the treatment is based on the principles of thalassotherapy and includes a custom blended wrap, Turkish towel myofacial techniques and a massage using a signature Shea butter.

Elsewhere in the new Rosewood Hotel Georgia is the Hawksworth Restaurant, operated by one of Canada's most-renowned chefs, David Hawksworth, and the Prohibition jazz bar.

Interior design firm Munge Leung of Toronto worked on the scheme, which has seen a full rejuvenation of a property originally unveiled as a hotel during the 1920s.

RHR chief operating officer Robert Boulogne said: "Vancouver is already a vibrant city and we hope that the opening of Rosewood Hotel Georgia will bring a new buzz to the heart of it.

"We have worked with local craftsmen to recreate this magnificent, iconic landmark to bring it back to its former glory, with a modern twist."
