Global wellness brand Sensei has become the latest operator to embrace the growing trend of walking and hiking retreats which are rapidly gaining popularity in the spa and wellness industry.

Sensei recently announced plans to roll out a second hiking retreat at Sensei Lānaʻi, a Four Seasons Resort, in Hawaii, from 7-12 November. The five-night retreat invites hiking enthusiasts of all levels to enjoy easy-to-moderate trails with breathtaking views, explore Hawaiian history and culture and immerse themselves in Sensei’s wellness programming.

Open to couples, solo travellers, and small groups, Sensei’s retreat includes three guided hikes, complete with optional warm-up and cool-down sessions:
First hike: A 4.5-mile sunrise experience through former pineapple fields and a rare dryland forest to Keahiakawelo, a dramatic, windswept rock garden with unforgettable views.
Second hike: A 5.1-mile trek on the Hiʻi Trail, featuring gradual elevation climbs, cultural moments including a Ti leaf planting ceremony and panoramic views of the Pālāwai Basin.
Final hike: A 5.3-mile journey across Kaiholena, ascending above Cook pine treetops into the misty Kō’ele atmosphere.

Participants will prepare for the retreat with two pre-arrival calls with Sensei’s team and start their experience with a meet-and-greet opening ceremony. Daily breakfasts, nutritional snacks and a US$500 (€462, £389) credit for Sensei by Nobu will be provided, along with a Replenish Brunch hosted by Sensei’s nutritionists to teach proper sustenance for hiking.

The retreat includes a rest day with access to amenities like group wellness classes, a lagoon-style swimming pool, an onsen garden and self-guided tours. Optional self-guided trails are available for those who wish to continue hiking.

Additional offerings include four 60-minute spa treatments, a 1:1 wellbeing session (fitness, nutrition, yoga, meditation, sleep, or mindfulness), an aerial yoga class, a gong sound bath and a closing ceremony dinner at Sensei by Nobu.

The Lānaʻi hiking retreat starts at US$9,850 for single occupancy (€9,092, £7,662) and US$15,450 for double occupancy (€14,261, £12,018), with flights and transportation included.
