Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has signed a management contract with Riverside Infrastructure (India) Pvt., a subsidiary of MARG, to operate Traders Hotel, Chennai, scheduled to open in early 2012.
The 246-room hotel is to be part of a multi-use complex which will also feature a shopping mall, an office block and 52 service apartments.
Facilities will include a café, speciality and all-day dining restaurants and a lobby lounge, in addition to more than 2,236sq m (24,000sq ft) of function space, a health club, a spa with beauty salon and a 25m outdoor swimming pool.
The new opening will add to an Indian portfolio which already includes the Eros Hotel in New Delhi and will see the addition in 2011 and 2012 respectively of the Shangri-La Hotel Mumbai and the Shangri-La Hotel Bangalore.
