Six Senses has announced its first UK property will launch in summer 2025
First teased in late 2019, Six Senses London will feature 109 rooms, 14 residences, a signature spa and the world's first Six Senses Place private members' club
The property is part of the £1 billion renovation of the iconic Whiteley building in West London
The project is a collaboration between Finchatton, MARK and CC Land – with Fosters + Partners appointed to oversee architecture and design
Six Senses, the renowned luxury and lifestyle brand within IHG's portfolio, has confirmed the eagerly awaited opening of its first UK property, Six Senses London, slated for summer 2025.

Located in the heart of Bayswater, West London, the hotel will occupy the historic Whiteley building, an iconic art deco department store.

The property will feature 109 guest rooms and suites, alongside 14 residences. Guests will be treated to a variety of dining options and an innovative Six Senses Spa designed to evoke the atmosphere of a classic London underground station.

The spa will embody the dynamic contrasts of urban life, blending the energy of the city with tranquil spaces reminiscent of quiet parks or cafés. Key features will include a 3,500sq ft fitness area, a 20m indoor pool, an Alchemy Bar and a relaxation room with dramatic vaulted ceilings.

In addition to the spa, Six Senses London will introduce its first-ever membership concept, Six Senses Place, which merges wellness, community, and celebration. This exclusive members' club will offer a central bar and lounge, coworking spaces, a restaurant and wellness and treatment rooms.

Restoring an icon
The realisation of Six Senses London is part of a £1 billion (US$1.3 billion, €1.2 billion) renovation of the Whiteley building, transforming the former department store into a mixed-use destination.

Originally opened by entrepreneur William Whiteley in 1863 as a drapery shop, the Whiteley department store became a cultural institution, hailed as “an immense symposium of the arts and industries of the nation and of the world.” In the 1980s, it was converted into a shopping centre, complete with a cinema and tenpin bowling, before closing in December 2018.

This ambitious restoration is spearheaded by development manager Finchatton, in partnership with MARK and CC Land, with the design led by Foster + Partners, celebrated for its eco-conscious approach.

Additionally, luxury UK health club operator Third Space will debut a state-of-the-art 34,000sq ft gym across three floors as part of the revitalised development.
