Luxury French spa operator Spa L’Occitane has opened the doors to a branded wellness facility aboard World Traveller, the latest cruise ship to be launched by Atlas Ocean Voyages.

The 88sq m SeaSpa has opened aboard the 200-person all-inclusive cruise ship and is designed to offer cruise guests a holistic wellbeing retreat with the option to explore a range of treatments using L’Occitane en Provence’s signature products.

Equipped with two treatment rooms, the spa is home to a relaxation space, named the wellness zone, characterised by a nautical-inspired palette of blue tones with ocean-view loungers.

There is also an infrared sauna, exterior pool and two hot tubs as well as a fitness studio, a running track and a deck solarium.

To infuse wellness throughout the guest journey, L’Occitane en Provence Aromachology toiletries will also be available in all three decks of the bathrooms of the guest suites.

Synergy in sustainability
Spa L’Occitane has 90 spa partnerships with luxury hotels across 30 countries and is a subsidiary of the L’Occitane Group, an international manufacturer and retailer of premium and sustainable beauty and wellness products.

The Group operates in 90 countries worldwide and has 3,000 retail outlets including 1,500 of its own stores. Within its portfolio of beauty brands that champion organic and natural ingredients are: L’Occitane en Provence, Elemis, Grown Alchemist, Erborian, Melvita, L’Occitane au Brésil, LimeLife by Alcone and Sol de Janeiro.

According to the Group, its brands are driven by a nature-positive vision and it remains committed to investing in communities and biodiversity, reducing waste and finding sustainable solutions in order to create a healthier planet.

This philosophy underpins Spa L’Occitane and helped the brand stand out to Atlas when selecting a spa partner for its new cruise ship.

James Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas, said: “We’re keenly aware of the world’s fragile ecosystem and our two companies share a strong commitment to sustainability.

“We’re proud to bring L’Occitane en Provence signature treatments to our World Traveller guests.”

Atlas is similarly committed to the environment and unveiled World Traveller with multiple eco-friendly features. These include an advanced waste management system as well as a hybrid hydro-jet propulsion system that allows the ship to cruise virtually silently up to five knots minimising underwater noise that can stress marine life.

A GPS-based Dynamic Position System also allows the ship to avoid the need to drop anchor, preventing damage to the ocean floor.

Catherine Tran, director of spa business development at Spa L’Occitane, added: “We’re thrilled and honoured to collaborate with the team at Atlas. As sustainability is so key to our brand, we’re delighted that World Traveller is making every effort to reduce its impact on the marine environment.”
