Sector leaders to debate Sports Strategy implications at active-net 2016
POSTED 26 Feb 2016 . BY Jak Phillips
Sport England property director Charles Johnston will make a presentation on Sport England’s response to the new strategy
Exploring how the government’s new Sports Strategy will shape the future of the physical activity sector will be top of the agenda during the sector leaders’ debate at active-net 2016.

A high-powered industry panel will discuss the implications of Sporting Future – A New Strategy for an Active Nation and how the leisure sector can maximise resultant opportunities.

Sport England property director Charles Johnston will make a presentation on Sport England’s response to the new strategy, before joining an industry panel including CLOA chair Mark Allman, BUCS CEO Vince Mayne and Jubilee Hall Trust CEO Phil Rumbelow. The session will be chaired by Mike Hill, director of Leisure-net Solutions, which organises the active-net.

“We are very happy to have such a strong panel to debate this important new cultural change facing our sector, said Hill.

“I look forward to the active-net audience hearing some lively and informative discussions.”

Following the panel, delegates will have the choice of two breakout sessions. David Minton, director of the Leisure Database Company, will talk about the ‘Blue Dot’, explaining how our phone will know more about our fitness/health going forward than any personal trainer or leisure centre.

In the other session, entrepreneur coach John Grisby will explain how organisations can keep entrepreneurship alive and thriving as their organisation grows by understanding the Company Lifecycle and ‘why companies age’.

Now in its third year, active-net brings together more than 100 leading operators and suppliers within the active leisure sector for business-focused, pre-selected one-to-one meetings, together with educational slots, networking lunches and an evening meal.
