What is reported to be Egypt's first ever salt cave opened on 20 August at the Taba Heights resort on the Red Sea.
Using salt from the Dead Sea, the cave's floor is covered in a thick layer of salt crystals while the ceiling has salt stalactites, creating a unique microclimate. Siwa Oasis Salt is used, which originates from the ancient time of Alexander the Great, while the air also includes iodine, calcium, magnesium, iron and selenium.
A standard session takes around 45 minutes while salt cosmetics, lamps and candles can also be purchased to extend the experience.
"We are really excited about the Salt Cave - it perfectly complements the serenity of Taba Heights and we are proud to provide such a beneficial outlet for the wellbeing of our guests," said Omar El Halaby, VP marketing for Orascom Development.
The Salt Cave is located in Taba Heights' Uptown area. Details: tabaheights.com
