Skeyndor is the skincare brand partner for treatments

The Edinburgh Grand, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in the UK, has completed its renovation of a restored neo-classical former bank, with the addition of a new wellness space. 

The 50-key hotel is the first Scottish location for Marriott’s Luxury Collection Hotel brand. It has been redeveloped, from serviced apartments,  by the real estate investment company Chris Stewart Group.

The Chris Stewart Group partnered with Marriott in Q3 last year to also reposition another property in the area as Autograph Collection-branded apartments and to develop another hotel in the city called the Colourist under Marriott’s boutique independent brand, the Tribute Portfolio, which is due to open in 2027. 

The 82-key Old Town Chambers Autograph Collection apartments and The Edinburgh Grand, Luxury Collection are both operated by RBH Hospitality Management.

The Spa at the Edinburgh Grand

The Spa at the Edinburgh Grand is located in the building’s original Royal Bank of Scotland vaults on the lower ground floor, with preserved original architectural features. It is open to both hotel guests and local residents.

Catriona Ross, head of spa and wellness at The Edinburgh Grand, told Spa Business the concept was designed by Karen Brown, creative designer for Chris Stewart Group. “Together, they developed purpose-built treatment rooms that embody a carefully considered, peaceful atmosphere, enabling us to deliver a truly intentional and exceptionally relaxing experience for our guests.”

While the spa does not feature thermal experiences, it offers three treatment rooms for precision-led facials and body therapies and complements the property’s pre-existing Technogym gym.

“We have deliberately chosen not to incorporate thermal facilities, instead prioritising the bespoke treatment experience for each guest. This strategic decision enables us to provide a highly personalised, results-oriented service, tailored specifically to individual requirements,” added Ross.

Ross has held leadership roles in luxury hospitality across the UK and UAE, at properties including the St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort (Abu Dhabi), The Savoy (UK), Atlantis The Royal (Dubai) and Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah (Dubai). 

She explained how this spa’s operation would be different: “The client-centric philosophy at the Spa at Edinburgh Grand enables us to deliver a more refined and personalised experience than in previous ventures. Prioritising quality over quantity, every aspect of the spa has been meticulously considered to ensure each guest’s journey is truly unique and tailored to their individual needs.”

Treatments

The spa’s treatment menu has been crafted in collaboration with Spanish skincare brand Skeyndor. Each treatment begins with a skin consultation and assessment, enabling therapists to tailor therapies to meet individual requirements.

A signature treatment on the menu is the 60-minute Power Up Vitamin C Facial, which costs £210 (US$267, €245). Designed to address dullness, fatigue and uneven skin tone, the protocol uses Skeyndor’s advanced Vitamin C formula. Other treatment prices start from £115 (US$146, €134).

Ross added: “Skeyndor was selected for its outstanding clinical reputation and innovative approach to skincare. The brand also effortlessly incorporates elements of luxury into every treatment, enhancing the experience for each guest. Our thoughtfully designed treatment menu supports a truly tailored approach, allowing us to address the full range of skin types, concerns and ages with utmost precision.”

The Edinburgh Grand, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in the UK, has completed its renovation of a restored neo-classical former bank, with the addition of a new wellness space. 

The 50-key hotel is the first Scottish location for Marriott’s Luxury Collection Hotel brand. It has been redeveloped, from serviced apartments,  by the real estate investment company Chris Stewart Group.
